Following the success of the HBB range of high power interconnect solutions for the defense sector, Hypertac has developed the new HBC range of small, lightweight high power connectors, made specifically for the industrial sector.
The connectors are designed with a minimal component count and use advanced manufacture techniques to deliver a competitive commercial solution. The reliable, high performance connectors’ easy mating and quick release features incorporate Hypertac’s proven hyperboloid contact technology to attain standard current ratings of 300A and 500A, with 750A available on request.
Hyperboloid contacts reduce contact resistance to just 0.05m, thus reducing resistive losses. This eases the task of thermal management and allows improved power handling within a smaller space with a lower overall mass.
The HBC series is gender reversible and features a polarised design with a variety of options that ease assembly allowing simple maintenance and speedy changeover for minimal system downtime. Offered in a choice of aluminium, nickel-plated or thermoplastic shells, these single-pole circular connectors are environmentally sealed to IP67 when mated and are also finger proof to IP20 for added safety, featuring 360° EMI/RFI shielding when required.
Configurations are available in cable or panel mount versions and with straight or right angle back shells, allowing users to choose the most appropriate compact, ergonomic variant to simplify their cable management architecture and therefore further increase reliability and reduce the likelihood of interconnection errors.
Rated for use at up to 1000V DC, the HBC series can accept cable sizes of up to 70mm2 for 300A versions and 120mm2 for 500A versions.

The shape of the contact sleeve is formed by wires strung at an angle to the socket axis. When the pin is inserted into the sleeve, the wires stretch around it, providing a number of linear contact paths.
